Perched on the granitic amphitheaters overlooking the Gulf of Ajaccio, Domaine Comte Peraldi's Cuvée Clémence showcases the complexity achievable with Vermentino grown in southwest Corsica. First planted by Count Guy de Poix in the mid-1960s, the estate fermenting and aging this cuvée partially in oak barrels—a rarity for island whites—gives it a refined, textural depth. The combination of intense maritime sunshine, granitic sandy soils, and cooling sea winds yields a wine marked by aromatic maquis herbal notes, precise citrus fruit, and an underlying salty minerality.
