Situated at the northernmost gateway of the Côte de Nuits, Marsannay is an appellation of rising star status, and 'Les Longeroies' is widely regarded as one of its absolute finest lieu-dit vineyards, frequently championed for future Premier Cru elevation. Domaine Louis Jadot's rendering of this exceptional climat highlights the superb potential of its iron-rich clay and limestone soils. The name 'Longeroies' historically references the long, narrow strips of land ('longères') that trace the hillside. Jadot vinifies this wine with traditional Burgundian precision, utilizing open-top fermenters and aging in French oak casks to preserve the vibrant, dark-cherry fruit and earthy complexity. Established in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Louis Jadot stands as one of Burgundy's preeminent domaines and négociant houses. With viticultural roots extending back to the 1826 purchase of the Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules, the estate manages hundreds of hectares spanning Chablis, the Côte d'Or, the Mâconnais, and Beaujolais. Viticulture relies strictly on lutte raisonnée principles, emphasizing soil vitality, manual canopy stewardship, and parcel-specific harvesting across varied limestone-clay climats. In the cellar, Technical Director Frédéric Barnier perpetuates a non-interventionist ethos shaped by decades of institutional expertise: native yeast fermentations, extended skin contact, and restrained use of new French oak—crafted largely at Jadot's own Tonnellerie Cadus—ensure uncompromised terroir fidelity.
