While Domaine Ponsot is legendary for its red Grand Crus and its singular Aligot e from Clos des Monts Luisants, the 'Cuv ee de la M esange' name is famously utilized by Laurent Ponsot for his expressive Meursault white, as well as historically associated with premier cru holdings in Chambolle-Musigny. In the white expression, this cuv ee represents the pinnacle of classic Burgundian Chardonnay, crafted with the family's signature philosophy of minimal intervention. Established in 1872 by William Ponsot upon his return from the Franco-Prussian War, Domaine Ponsot stands as one of Morey-Saint-Denis’s most storied and fiercely individualistic estates. Under Hippolyte Ponsot, the domaine emerged as an early pioneer of estate bottling in the 1930s and played an instrumental role in codifying Burgundy's Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée system. Following Laurent Ponsot’s departure in 2017, the estate continues under the stewardship of Rose-Marie Ponsot and winemaker Alexandre Abel. Viticulture adheres to rigorous biological and non-interventionist principles across its historic terroirs, defined by Bathonian and Bajocian limestones blanketed in fossil-rich marl. In the cellar, tradition converges with uncompromising technique: low-sulfite regimes, fermentation in open-top wooden vats, and maturation in neutral oak barrels without new wood. Domaine Ponsot is celebrated for its monumental benchmark expressions, most prominently the profound Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes and the unique, ancient-vine Aligoté monopole Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Clos des Monts Luisants.
