Domaine Ponsot's old-vine cuvées, most famously epitomized by their legendary Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes, represent the pinnacle of traditional Burgundian winemaking. The Ponsot family has long championed a non-interventionist philosophy, famously eschewing the use of new oak barrels in favor of seasoned wood (some over 50 years old) to preserve the pure, unadulterated voice of the terroir. With Pinot Noir vines dating back as far as 1905, these ancient plants dig deep into the limestone-rich soils of Morey-Saint-Denis, yielding tiny, concentrated berries. The winemaking process remains defiantly old-school, utilizing gravity-fed cellars and avoiding temperature control or sulfur additions during vinification. This results in a red Burgundy of extraordinary depth, complexity, and wild, untamed elegance, characterized by notes of dark bramble fruit, forest floor, and exotic spices.

Domaine Ponsot blev grundlagt i 1872 af William Ponsot og er en legendarisk ejendom med base i Morey-Saint-Denis i hjertet af Côte de Nuits i Bourgogne. Domænet er kendt for sin uafhængighed og pionerånd; det var således blandt de allerførste i regionen, der tappede vinene på eget domæne i 1930'erne og gik forrest inden for klonselektion. Vingården arbejder ud fra et princip om minimal intervention med lavt udbytte fra ældgamle vinstokke, sen høst for at sikre optimal fysiologisk modenhed og lagring på brugte, neutrale egetræsfade for at bevare terroirets renhed.
