✨ wine.spec_sheet

The Clos Hauserer is a treasured monopole of Domaine Zind Humbrecht, nestled at the very foot of the prestigious Hengst Grand Cru in Wintzenheim. Planted entirely with Riesling in 1973, this gently sloping, sheltered vineyard is characterized by deep, marly limestone soils that retain moisture and cool temperatures. This unique microclimate slows grape ripening, preserving a piercing, vibrant acidity and allowing the grapes to develop profound aromatic complexity. Fermented slowly with indigenous yeasts and aged on its lees in traditional large oak foudres, this single-vineyard Riesling is celebrated for its intense mineral drive, structural precision, and a signature petrol-tinged complexity that emerges with age.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Formed in 1959 through the merger of two historic winegrowing families, Domaine Zind Humbrecht is located in Turckheim, Alsace, and is globally revered as a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture, having achieved certification in 1997 under the stewardship of Olivier Humbrecht MW. The estate meticulously manages legendary grand cru and single-vineyard sites, including Clos Windsbuhl, Clos Hauserer, and Hengst, where low yields and slow, natural fermentations preserve the pure expression of the terroir. Renowned for its uncompromising commitment to quality, the domaine produces highly concentrated, complex white wines from Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer, ranging from bone-dry expressions to legendary late-harvest Vendanges Tardives and botrytized Sélection de Grains Nobles.
