The Silacci Vineyard Pinot Noir is a compelling expression of Monterey's unique maritime terroir. Situated in a cool-climate zone heavily influenced by the nearby Monterey Bay, the vineyard experiences a dramatic daily weather pattern. Thick morning fog rolls in from the deep submarine canyon of the bay, followed by strong, chilly afternoon winds that sweep through the valley. This natural cooling system acts as a thermal regulator, extending the growing season and allowing the Pinot Noir grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. This slow maturation process preserves the grapes' natural acidity while fostering deep color, thick skins, and highly concentrated flavors. Dominion Tantara translates this dramatic climate into the glass using traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques, resulting in a structured, elegant Pinot Noir defined by dark fruit, earthy undertones, and a signature vibrant acidity.

Dominion Tantara (oprindeligt grundlagt som Tantara Winery) blev etableret i 1997 af Bill Cates og Jeff Fink fra Virginia, forenet af en fælles passion for bourgognesorter i køligt klima. Med base på det historiske Rancho Tepusquet på Santa Maria Valleys berømte Bien Nacido Vineyard henter vinhuset druer fra absolutte elite-terroirs på Central Coast, herunder Dierberg, Talley Rincon, Zotovich og gamle vinstokke på Bien Nacido. Området nyder godt af de tværgående øst-vest-vendte maritime korridorer, som leder morgentåge og kølige vinde fra Stillehavet ind over skråningernes sandede lerjord, hvilket giver druerne en lang modningsperiode på vinstokken og bevarer en naturlig, spændstig syre. Markarbejdet hviler på bæredygtige principper med omhyggelig løvvægspleje, mens vinfremstillingen i kælderen følger traditionelle burgundiske metoder med minimal intervention: gæring med hele drueklaser, spontangæring med naturgær og modning på tætkornede franske egetræsbarriques.
