Unlike Vintage Ports which mature in bottle, a Colheita Port is a Tawny Port sourced from a single exceptional harvest and aged extensively in seasoned oak casks prior to bottling. Dow's, founded in 1798 and managed by the Symington family, brings its signature drier style to these rare single-year releases. Sourced from the historic terraced vineyards of Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira in the heart of Portugal's Douro Valley, the grapes are traditionally trodden in granite lagares before fortification. Over years of patient cask maturation, the wine gradually transforms from deep ruby to a shimmering mahogany amber, evaporating slowly through the staves to concentrate flavors of dried fruit, toasted hazelnut, orange zest, and delicate wood spice, while retaining Dow's famed structure and dry elegance.

Tracing its origins back to 1798 when Portuguese merchant Bruno da Silva began trading Port wine, Dow's has established itself as one of the most revered Port houses in the Douro Valley, Portugal, and is today owned and operated by the Symington family. The estate's signature character is anchored by two flagship vineyards, Quinta do Bomfim near Pinhão and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira in the Douro Superior. Renowned for a distinctive, slightly drier style than many of its peers, Dow's combines ancient granite lagar treading with modern enological precision. The house is acclaimed worldwide for its intense, structured Vintage Ports with extraordinary aging potential, as well as its Single Quinta releases and aged Tawny Ports.
