Crafted by the visionary Ernst Loosen, who took over his family's historic estate in 1988, the Dr. Loosen Blue Slate Riesling Kabinett is a liquid testament to the dramatic, steep slopes of Germany's Mosel valley. This wine is sourced from estate-owned vineyards characterized by Devonian blue slate soil, a unique terroir that absorbs warmth during the day and radiates it back to the vines at night, imparting a signature flinty minerality. Made from 100% Riesling, the grapes are harvested early to capture the classic, light-bodied Kabinett style. Fermented in stainless steel to preserve its pristine fruit character, this off-dry wine beautifully balances vibrant, racy acidity with delicate sweetness, embodying centuries of Mosel winemaking heritage.

The historic Dr. Loosen estate has been in the Loosen family for over two centuries, situated along the dramatic, slate-lined slopes of the Middle Mosel in Bernkastel-Kues, Germany. Since taking over management in 1988, Ernst Loosen has revitalized the winery by strictly focusing on low yields, meticulous vineyard stewardship, and minimal intervention in the cellar. The estate is blessed with extraordinarily old, ungrafted Riesling vines in legendary Grand Cru (Grosse Lage) vineyards such as Erdener Prälat, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and Bernkasteler Lay.
