The Urziger Wurzgarten, or 'spice garden of Urzig,' is one of the Mosel's most spectacular and unusual vineyards. Rising like a sheer amphitheater of red volcanic soil and slate, it imparts a uniquely exotic, spicy character to the Riesling grapes grown here, quite distinct from the blue slate found elsewhere in the region. This rare 'Versteigerung' (Auction) bottling represents the absolute pinnacle of Dr. Ernst Loosen's craft. Sourced from extremely old, ungrafted vines, this Spatlese is selected from the finest single cask to be sold exclusively at the prestigious annual VDP wine auctions in Trier.
