Crafted by the visionary Ernst Loosen, this Beerenauslese (BA) originates from the legendary Wehlener Sonnenuhr—the 'Sundial of Wehlen'—a precipitously steep vineyard named after the historic sundial erected in 1842 by Jodocus Prüm. Composed of 100% Riesling grown on pure blue Devonian slate soils, this luscious sweet wine is made only in exceptional vintages. It requires painstaking hand-selection of individual berries shriveled by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). The combination of the Mosel's cool climate, ancient ungrafted vines, and meticulous cellar work yields a wine of astonishing concentration, balancing intense honeyed sweetness with a vibrant, electric vein of slate-driven acidity.
