Hailing from one of the Mosel's most iconic vineyards, the Wehlener Sonnenuhr (Sundial of Wehlen) Riesling GG (Grosses Gewächs) represents the pinnacle of dry German Riesling. The vineyard itself is legendary, named after the historic sundial erected in 1842 by Jodocus Prüm to guide the daily rhythm of the vineyard workers. Dr. Loosen crafts this masterpiece from extremely steep, south-facing slopes composed of pure blue Devonian slate, home to ancient, ungrafted vines. This unique terroir imparts a striking, flinty minerality and an elegant, dancing acidity to the wine. In accordance with Grosses Gewächs traditions, the wine is fermented dry using indigenous yeasts in traditional, neutral Fuder oak casks and kept on its starter lees (sur lie) for 12 months. This patient, low-intervention process tempers the Riesling's natural tension with a rich, satiny texture, resulting in a complex white wine defined by white peach, citrus blossom, and a profound, stony depth.

The historic Dr. Loosen estate, located in Bernkastel-Kues in the Mosel region of Germany, has been in the same family for over two centuries. Since taking ownership in 1988, Ernst Loosen has propelled the winery to international acclaim by focusing on the estate's extraordinary heritage of ungrafted, old Riesling vines—some over 120 years old—situated in historic grand cru sites such as Erdener Pr$lat, $rziger W$rzgarten, and Bernkasteler Lay. The winery's philosophy centers on minimalist winemaking and a deep respect for the region's diverse slate soils, which yield intensely mineral-driven, expressive wines. Dr. Loosen is globally renowned for its precise, elegant Rieslings, spanning from dry (Trocken) styles to exquisitely concentrated sweet expressions like Auslese, Beerenauslese, and rare Eisweins.
