🍾 About the Producer
Tracing its viticultural heritage back to 1556, Weingut Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler is an emblematic Middle Mosel estate headquartered along the riverbank in Bernkastel-Kues. The estate took its modern configuration under Dr. Peter Pauly in 1959 and is steered today by proprietor Stefan Pauly alongside cellar master Carl Debus. Encompassing approximately 16 to 17 hectares of precipitous vineyard land—nearly three-quarters situated on extreme slopes with angles exceeding 45 degrees—holdings span celebrated cru sites such as Bernkasteler Badstube, Bernkasteler alte Badstube am Doctorberg, Ürziger Würzgarten, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and the monopole Ürziger Goldwingert. The terroir is dominated by blue and weathered Devonian slate interspersed with red volcanic sediment in Ürzig. Farming relies on low-yield sustainable viticulture and selective hand harvesting. In the cellar, gentle processing, parcel-by-parcel temperature-controlled fermentation in small stainless steel vessels, and prolonged lees contact define the house aesthetic: crystalline, mineral-driven Rieslings of laser-focused acidity and filigree fruit expression across all Prädikat classifications.
