Hailing from the dizzyingly steep, terraced granite slopes of the Condrieu appellation, the 2020 'La Doriane' is a masterclass in the expression of Viognier. This cuvée is sourced from legendary, sun-drenched parcels including Côte Chatillon and Colombier, where vines cling to narrow terraces that must be worked entirely by hand. The 2020 growing season in the Northern Rhône was warm and remarkably early, yielding grapes of exceptional concentration and aromatic purity. To craft this opulent white, the juice underwent fermentation and aging for 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels from the estate's own cooperage, with regular lees stirring to build its signature voluptuous texture. The result is a wine that beautifully balances exotic stone fruit richness with a striking, mineral-driven freshness characteristic of the vintage's granite soils.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal in the ancient village of Ampuis, Domaine E. Guigal has become one of the Rhône Valley's most illustrious and influential wine estates. Now managed by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, the family is headquartered at the historic Château d'Ampuis, where they craft legendary wines that define the northern and southern Rhône. The estate is globally renowned for its iconic Côte-Rôtie single-vineyard bottlings—La Mouline, La Turque, and La Landonne—as well as the opulent Condrieu La Doriane. Their uncompromising production philosophy emphasizes extremely long barrel aging in their custom, in-house cooperage, resulting in wines of extraordinary depth, structure, and longevity.
