Egon Müller’s Scharzhofberg is the crown jewel of the Saar valley, a tributary of the Mosel. This legendary estate, managed by the Müller family since 1797 following its confiscation from the Benedictine Abbey of St. Paul during the French Revolution, produces some of the world's most coveted white wines. The Scharzhofberg vineyard itself is a steep, south-facing slope of weathered grey Devonian slate, boasting a cool microclimate that allows Riesling grapes to ripen slowly while retaining electric acidity. The 'Fuder 9' designation indicates a specific, highly prized cask bottling, often reserved for the historic Trier wine auctions. This Auslese is crafted from meticulously hand-selected, botrytised grapes, resulting in a wine of breathtaking tension, where intense, honeyed sweetness is perfectly counterbalanced by a crystalline, saline minerality and vibrant acidity.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
