The estate of Egon Müller on the Scharzhofberg is legendary, with roots tracing back to the medieval Benedictine Abbey of St. Paul in Trier. Following the French Revolution, the estate was acquired by the Müller family, who have since crafted some of the world's most coveted white wines. The Scharzhofberg vineyard, situated in the cool Saar valley of the Mosel, features steep, south-facing slopes rich in weathered grey Devonian slate. This unique terroir, combined with ancient, sometimes ungrafted vines, yields Riesling of unparalleled tension and mineral depth.
