✨ wine.spec_sheet

The Scharzhofberg is one of the wine world's most legendary vineyards, situated on a steep, south-facing slope in the cool Saar valley, a tributary of the Mosel. Cultivated since Roman times and later managed by the Benedictine monks of St. Paul's Abbey in Trier, the estate was acquired by the Müller family in 1797. Under the stewardship of Egon Müller IV, the estate maintains an uncompromising commitment to traditional viticulture. This Riesling Kabinett feinherb is crafted from 100% Riesling grapes grown on weathered grey slate soils. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in traditional 1,000-liter oak casks (Fuder), it represents a rare, delicately off-dry expression of the vineyard. The wine beautifully captures the tension between the Saar's electric, crystalline acidity and a subtle, harmonious touch of residual sweetness, delivering unparalleled purity, mineral depth, and elegance.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
