Deep in the Saar valley, a sub-region of the Mosel, lies the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard, widely regarded as one of the world's greatest terroirs for Riesling. The estate of Egon Müller, with roots tracing back to the medieval monks of the Abbey of St. Paul in Trier, has cultivated these steep, grey slate slopes since the late 18th century. The Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett Nr 12 represents a highly prized, select bottling—often associated with the prestigious annual Trier wine auction—that epitomizes the estate's uncompromising standards. Crafted from 100% Riesling grapes, some from ancient, ungrafted vines, the wine is fermented in traditional neutral oak Fuder casks. The cool Saar microclimate preserves a vibrant, electric acidity that perfectly balances the delicate natural residual sweetness, resulting in a wine of unmatched precision, intense slate minerality, and ethereal lightness.

Historien bag Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof strækker sig tilbage til 1797, hvor Jean-Jacques Koch erhvervede den historiske ejendom i Wiltingen, beliggende i Saar-dalen i Tysklands berømte Mosel-region. Vingården er gået i arv gennem generationer og har i dag opnået verdensry under ledelse af Egon Müller IV.
