✨ Technical Specifications
Egon Müller's Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett is the stuff of legend, originating from one of the world's most revered white wine vineyards. Located in the cool Saar valley of the Mosel, the Scharzhofberg hill features deep Devonian slate soils and steep, south-facing slopes. The estate's history dates back to the medieval monastery of St. Marien ad Martyres in Trier, later acquired by the Müller family's ancestors after the French Revolution. The Kabinett Nr. 32 is a highly coveted auction bottling, representing an elite selection of 100% Riesling grapes. Vinified traditionally in neutral oak Fuder casks, this wine captures an ethereal balance of electric acidity, delicate residual sweetness, and intense slate minerality that defines the pinnacle of the Saar style.
🍾 About the Producer
Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof traces its heritage to 1797 when Jean-Jacques Koch acquired the historic estate, nestled in Wiltingen along the Saar valley within Germany's famed Mosel region. Handed down across generations, the estate is celebrated globally under the stewardship of Egon Müller IV, who maintains a deeply traditional approach emphasizing pristine vineyard management, late harvesting, and minimal cellar intervention. The estate is crowned by its holdings in the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard, home to pre-phylloxera, ungrafted Riesling vines grown on steep, slate soils. Egon Müller is globally acclaimed for producing arguably the purest, most ageworthy, and aristocratic sweet Rieslings in existence, ranging from exquisite Spätlese and Auslese to mythical, auction-commanding Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
