✨ wine.spec_sheet

Deep in the cool Saar valley of the Mosel region lies the legendary Scharzhofberg, a vineyard of mythical status whose viticultural history dates back to the Benedictine monks of St. Pauli in the medieval era. Since 1797, the Müller family has safeguarded this terroir, crafting some of the world's most collectable white wines. The Scharzhofberger Riesling Spätlese 'Nr 39' represents a highly prized, often auction-exclusive bottling of singular purity. Grown on weathered grey and red Devonian slate soils, the 100% Riesling grapes benefit from a cool microclimate that preserves electric acidity. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in traditional neutral oak fuders, this wine represents the pinnacle of Mosel tension—balancing intense natural sweetness with a vibrant, crystalline mineral spine and notes of white peach, petrol, and wet stone.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
