Produced by the legendary Egon M ller under the Le Gallais estate, which the M ller family acquired in 1954, this wine comes from the steep, south-facing Wiltinger Braune Kupp vineyard along the Saar River. The vineyard's name, meaning 'brown hillock,' refers to its unique, iron-rich reddish-brown Devonian slate soils. This 100% Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel is a masterpiece of selection, crafted only in exceptional years from grapes heavily affected by noble rot (botrytis). Hand-harvested with obsessive care, it undergoes traditional fermentation in neutral oak Fuder casks. The resulting wine is a sublime tension of luscious, honeyed sweetness and electric, slate-driven acidity, showcasing notes of candied citrus, dried stone fruits, and a profound, smoky minerality.

Established in 1797 when the Müller family acquired the historic estate, Weingut Egon Müller-Scharzhof is located in Wiltingen within the Saar sub-region of the Mosel, Germany. Today, the estate is meticulously managed by Egon Müller IV, who continues a multi-generational legacy of producing some of the world's most coveted and long-lived white wines. The winery is legendary for its peerless Rieslings sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the iconic Scharzhofberg vineyard, as well as the Wiltinger Braune Kupp site under the Le Gallais label. Emphasizing traditional, low-intervention cellar practices and old, ungrafted vines, Egon Müller crafts exceptionally precise, mineral-driven, and exquisitely balanced Rieslings ranging from crisp QbA to legendary, auction-grade Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese expressions.
