Established in 1970 in the historic town of Oyón within the Rioja Alavesa sub-region of Spain, El Coto de Rioja released its inaugural vintage in 1975 and has grown into one of Rioja's most celebrated and recognizable wineries. Now part of the Grupo Barón de Ley, the estate commands extensive vineyard holdings across all three subzones of Rioja, including the high-altitude Finca Carbonera planted to expressive white varieties and exceptional parcels throughout Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. Combining traditional oak aging in American and French barrels with cutting-edge cellar technology, the winery is particularly revered for its market-leading Tempranillo-driven Crianza, structured Reservas and Gran Reservas under the Coto de Imaz label, and crisp, aromatic white wines.
