Errazuriz's Aconcagua Costa Syrah represents a pioneering shift in Chilean viticulture, moving towards the cool, ocean-influenced hills of the Aconcagua Costa AVA, just 12 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. Grown on the rolling hills of the Manzanar Vineyard, the vines thrive in soils rich in metamorphic rock and schist, cooled by morning mists and maritime breezes. This unique terroir imparts a distinct cool-climate signature to the Syrah, characterized by vibrant acidity, intense black pepper, and savory, mineral undertones rather than the jammy fruit of warmer regions. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak barrels, this wine showcases the elegant, northern Rhône-inspired side of Chile, combining fresh blackberry fruit with complex notes of tapenade, violets, and wild herbs.
