โจ Technical Specifications
The 'Q' in Zuccardi Q Malbec stands for 'Quality', a designation originally used by the family to mark the specific vineyard plots of exceptional promise. First released in 1999, this range marked Zuccardi's pivotal shift toward premium, terroir-driven winemaking. Sourced from selected high-altitude vineyards in Mendoza's Uco Valley, particularly Paraje Altamira and Vista Flores, the grapes thrive in soils rich in calcium carbonate and alluvial stones. The wine is fermented in concrete vessels using native yeasts, followed by aging in a combination of concrete and French oak barrels. This process preserves the vibrant, dark fruit character and distinct mineral backbone that defines modern Uco Valley Malbec, showcasing a perfect harmony of heritage and contemporary precision.
๐พ About the Producer
Founded in 1963 by Alberto Zuccardi in Mendoza, Argentina, Familia Zuccardi has evolved into one of the country's most visionary and prestigious family-owned wine dynasties. Under the leadership of Josรฉ Alberto Zuccardi and third-generation winemaker Sebastiรกn Zuccardi, the estate has shifted its focus towards high-altitude viticulture in the Uco Valley, pioneering deep geological research and unadorned concrete-vessel fermentations to express genuine site specificity. Operating state-of-the-art facilities like the acclaimed Piedra Infinita winery in Paraje Altamira, Zuccardi produces benchmark, mineral-driven Malbecs such as Finca Piedra Infinita alongside benchmark expressions of Bonarda and Cabernet Sauvignon across red, white, sparkling, and fortified categories.
