Hailing from the historic estate of Fontanafredda, which was founded in 1858 by King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy as a gift for his beloved mistress, Rosa Vercellana, the Briccotondo Dolcetto is a vibrant celebration of Piedmont's traditional everyday red grape. The name 'Bricco' refers to the crest of the rolling hillsides characteristic of the Langhe landscape. Crafted from 100% Dolcetto grapes, this wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve its bright, primary fruit character. It showcases the classic traits of the variety: a deep ruby-purple hue, soft tannins, and an abundance of fresh red and black cherry aromas, underpinned by a subtle almond finish that is highly characteristic of Dolcetto grown in these clay and limestone soils.

Founded in 1858 by Vittorio Emanuele II, the first King of Italy, as a gift for his beloved Rosa Vercellana, Fontanafredda is steeped in royal heritage and situated among the rolling hills of Serralunga d'Alba in Piedmont's Langhe region. The estate was turned into a commercial enterprise in 1878 by their son, Count Emanuele Guerrieri di Mirafiore, laying the foundation for one of Italy's most prestigious wine houses. Today, the winery couples historic cellars and traditional aging with a strong commitment to organic farming and eco-sustainable viticulture. Fontanafredda is globally acclaimed for its benchmark, age-worthy Barolo and Barbaresco wines, complemented by refined Piedmont staples including Roero Arneis, Barbera, and traditional-method Alta Langa sparkling wines.
