✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from the heart of Spain's Penedès region in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Freixenet's Elyssia Gran Cuvee Brut represents a luxurious, modern evolution of Cava. The historic Ferrer family, who established Freixenet in the late 19th century, crafted the Elyssia range to marry traditional Spanish sparkling heritage with international sophistication. This cuvée is a masterfully balanced blend of native Macabeo and Parellada grapes alongside international Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the latter vinified white. Produced using the traditional method, the wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle and is aged on its lees to develop a creamy, velvety texture. It showcases a beautiful straw-yellow hue with fine, persistent bubbles, offering aromas of acacia flowers, ripe peach, toasted nuts, and a touch of honeyed brioche, grounded by the limestone-rich soils of the Catalan hills.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1914 following the marriage of Pedro Ferrer Bosch and Dolores Sala Vivé, Freixenet traces its winemaking roots back to the 1861 founding of Casa Sala in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Spain. Located in the heart of the Penedès region in Catalonia, the house pioneered the production of Spanish sparkling wine using the traditional method, utilizing classic indigenous grape varieties like Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada. Freixenet is globally renowned for its iconic expressions, most notably the black-bottled Cordon Negro launched in 1974, alongside the prestigious Casa Sala Gran Reserva and the elegant Elyssia range. Today, the winery remains a symbol of Catalan sparkling wine heritage, blending centuries-old craftsmanship with modern innovation to define the global standard for Cava.
