✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from the historic Castello Nipozzano estate in the rugged Chianti Rufina territory, Montesodi is a landmark of Tuscan viticulture. First created in 1974 by the Frescobaldi family—whose winemaking legacy spans over 700 years and once supplied the Renaissance courts of Europe—Montesodi was among the very first single-vineyard, 100% Sangiovese wines produced in the region. The vineyard sits at an elevation of 400 meters on a bed of stony, schistous clay known locally as galestro. This unique terroir, combined with the cooler microclimate of Rufina, coaxes an extraordinary elegance and mineral tension from the Sangiovese grape. Aged traditionally in Austrian and French oak casks, Montesodi is celebrated for its aristocratic structure, vibrant acidity, and complex aromas of dark cherry, dried violet, and graphite.
