Hailing from the historic Castello di Nipozzano in the Chianti Rufina denomination, the Vecchie Viti Riserva is a tribute to the Frescobaldi family's deep-rooted winemaking legacy, which dates back to the Renaissance. The name 'Nipozzano' historically translates to 'without a well,' hinting at the stony, arid, and exceptionally well-drained soils of this rugged Tuscan subregion. This wine is crafted from the estate's oldest vines, which delve deep into the clay-limestone soils to yield concentrated, complex fruit. Primarily composed of Sangiovese alongside traditional blending partners like Malvasia Nera, Colorino, and Canaiolo, the wine undergoes a meticulous aging process in traditional oak casks for 24 months. The result is a highly expressive, elegant red characterized by notes of dark cherry, wild berries, refined spices, and a distinctive mineral backbone that reflects its unique terroir.
