The Gallo Signature Series Zinfandel represents a deeply personal project by third-generation winemaker Gina Gallo, designed to showcase the premier vineyards of Sonoma County. Paying homage to her grandfather Julio Gallo, who helped rebuild the American wine industry after Prohibition, this wine is crafted from select parcels where Zinfandel thrives in warm, sun-drenched days and cool coastal nights. The wine is typically blended with a touch of Petite Sirah to enhance its structure and deep color. It undergoes aging in a combination of French and American oak barrels, which imparts subtle notes of vanilla, toasted wood, and warm baking spices to the natural jammy blackberry, dark plum, and cracked black pepper characteristics of the grape.
