✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the cool, high-altitude heights of the Haute Vallee de l'Aude in the Languedoc, Gerard Bertrand's Aigle Royal Pinot Noir is a masterclass in cool-climate winemaking from a traditionally warm region. The vineyard sits at an elevation of over 500 meters, where Pyrenean breezes temper the Mediterranean sun, allowing the delicate Pinot Noir grape to ripen slowly and retain its vibrant acidity. The estate's name, 'Aigle Royal' (Royal Eagle), is a tribute to the majestic birds of prey that soar over these rugged, clay-limestone cliffs. Cultivated using biodynamic practices, this single-vineyard cuvee undergoes meticulous hand-harvesting, gentle maceration, and aging in French oak barrels. The result is an elegant, mineral-driven red that defies regional stereotypes, offering bright red berry fruit, subtle spice, and a refined, silky texture deeply rooted in its unique terroir.
