✨ Technical Specifications
Gérard Bertrand's 'An 806' is a profound tribute to the ancient viticultural heritage of the Languedoc. The name commemorates the year 806, a historical milestone marking some of the earliest documented vineyard charters in the region during the Carolingian era, when monastic communities began cultivating vines in earnest. Crafted primarily from a classic Southern French blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre, this cuvée captures the wild, sun-drenched essence of the Corbières terroir. The vines thrive on stony, clay-limestone soils, buffeted by the dry Cers wind and surrounded by fragrant wild garrigue. Vinified with traditional maceration and partially aged in French oak barrels, the wine reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruits, sweet spices, licorice, and a distinct herbaceous undertone, reflecting the rugged beauty and deep-rooted history of its birthplace.
