Gérard Bertrand's 'An 1886' is a profound tribute to the historical viticultural roots of the Roussillon region, specifically referencing the deep-seated winemaking heritage of Maury. Crafted from a classic blend of old-vine Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan, this cuvée is shaped by the dramatic and harsh terroir of black schist soils. These dark, heat-absorbing soils force the vine roots deep into the earth, yielding berries of incredible concentration and structural power. The wine undergoes traditional vinification and careful barrel aging, resulting in a rich, complex profile defined by dark bramble fruits, wild garrigue herbs, and a distinct, smoky minerality that echoes the rugged landscape of the Pyrenees foothills.
