Named in honor of the ancient Roman colony of Narbo Martius, modern-day Narbonne, which was founded in 118 BC and served as a crucial hub for the early Mediterranean wine trade, this cuvée by Gérard Bertrand pays homage to the Languedoc's two-thousand-year-old winemaking legacy. The wine is a classic southern French blend, typically dominated by Syrah and Grenache grown on sun-drenched clay-limestone terraces. These vineyards benefit from a warm Mediterranean climate tempered by cooling sea breezes and the dry Tramontane wind, which naturally keeps the vines healthy. Traditional vinification and careful aging preserve the vibrant fruit character, resulting in a wine that beautifully expresses the wild, herbal 'garrigue' of the region alongside ripe dark berries and subtle peppery spice.
