Hailing from one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries, established in 1797 in the historic market town of Oldmeldrum, Glen Garioch represents the robust, traditional heart of Highland single malt whisky. The 'Garioch' (pronounced 'Geery') is historically known as the 'Granary of Aberdeenshire,' famous for producing some of the finest barley in Scotland. Glen Garioch's single cask releases, often drawn from hand-selected oak barrels, offer an intimate glimpse into the distillery's rich, honeyed, and deeply malt-forward character. These expressions highlight the influence of traditional direct-fired copper pot stills and local water sources, resulting in a full-bodied spirit with notes of heather honey, warm spices, and a whisper of highland peat in older distillations.
