Nestled in the valley of the River Fiddich—the 'Valley of the Deer' in Gaelic—Glenfiddich was founded in 1886 by William Grant, who built the distillery by hand alongside his nine children. The Single Malt Small Batch Reserve 18 Year Old represents a masterclass in wood management and patience. It is matured in a combination of Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and traditional American oak casks. What sets this expression apart is the subsequent marrying process: the Malt Master hand-selects batches of no more than 150 casks, marrying them in large wooden tuns for at least three months. This allows the rich, oaky, and dried fruit flavors to integrate beautifully, creating an exceptionally smooth and complex Speyside single malt steeped in Scottish heritage.
