The Glenlivet Archive 21 Year Old is a masterpiece of Speyside distilling, representing a meticulous selection of whiskies matured in a combination of hand-selected American oak and ex-sherry casks. The 'Archive' name refers to the distillery's historic inventory, from which the Master Distiller selects only the finest casks that have reached their peak after more than two decades of quiet maturation. This expression showcases the classic, elegant, and fruity Speyside style pioneered by George Smith, who famously secured the first legal license in the region in 1824 despite threats from illicit distillers. The 21-year-old liquid offers a complex nose of dried fruits, rich sherry notes, and subtle spice, leading to a velvety palate of cinnamon, ginger, and toasted oak, finishing with long, warming complexity.

The Glenlivet blev grundlagt i 1824 af George Smith i den afsidesliggende Livet Valley i skotske Speyside, og destilleriet har en historisk særstatus som det allerførste i sognet, der opnåede officiel licens efter Excise Act i 1823. I dag hører destilleriet under Chivas Brothers og Pernod Ricard.
