The Glenlivet 18 Year Old is a classic Speyside single malt whisky, shaped by nearly two decades of maturation in a combination of first and second-fill American oak casks and ex-Sherry oak casks. This dual cask influence imparts a perfect balance of tropical fruitiness from the American oak and rich, spicy complexity from the Sherry wood. The history of Glenlivet is steeped in Scottish lore; founded by George Smith in 1824, it was the first legal distillery in the parish of Glenlivet. Smith famously carried a pair of hair-trigger pistols to defend himself against jealous illicit distillers who threatened his life and livelihood. This expression showcases the distillery's signature elegant, floral, and fruity character, deepened by time into notes of ripe pear, orange peel, and warm baking spices.

Founded in 1824 by George Smith in the remote Livet Valley of Speyside, Scotland, The Glenlivet holds historic distinction as the first legally licensed distillery in the parish following the 1823 Excise Act. Today part of Chivas Brothers under Pernod Ricard, the distillery draws mineral-rich water from Josie's Well and employs tall, lantern-shaped copper pot stills to achieve a remarkably light and refined distillation.
