The Glenlivet 18 Year Old is a classic Speyside single malt whisky, shaped by nearly two decades of maturation in a combination of first and second-fill American oak casks and ex-Sherry oak casks. This dual cask influence imparts a perfect balance of tropical fruitiness from the American oak and rich, spicy complexity from the Sherry wood. The history of Glenlivet is steeped in Scottish lore; founded by George Smith in 1824, it was the first legal distillery in the parish of Glenlivet. Smith famously carried a pair of hair-trigger pistols to defend himself against jealous illicit distillers who threatened his life and livelihood. This expression showcases the distillery's signature elegant, floral, and fruity character, deepened by time into notes of ripe pear, orange peel, and warm baking spices.

The Glenlivet blev grundlagt i 1824 af George Smith i den afsidesliggende Livet Valley og var det første lovlige destilleri i sognet efter vedtagelsen af The Excise Act i 1823. Destilleriet ligger højt i Speyside og henter sit rene, mineralrige vand fra Josie's Well, hvilket danner grundlag for en langsom og kontrolleret gæringsproces.
