The expressions bottled in 2004 showcase the distillery's signature elegant, fruity character, shaped by the mineral-rich waters of Josie's Well and the iconic tall, lantern-shaped copper pot stills designed by founder George Smith. Smith famously secured the first legal license in the Glenlivet valley in 1824, defying local smugglers to establish a style defined by bright orchard fruits, delicate floral notes, and refined oak complexity. The Glenlivet blev grundlagt i 1824 af George Smith i den afsidesliggende Livet Valley i skotske Speyside, og destilleriet har en historisk særstatus som det allerførste i sognet, der opnåede officiel licens efter Excise Act i 1823. I dag hører destilleriet under Chivas Brothers og Pernod Ricard.
