✨ Technical Specifications
This rare single cask release from The Glenlivet is steeped in the rich history of Speyside's legendary whisky smugglers. Named 'Blethermen' after a historic location along the old smuggling trails through the Glenlivet valley, this expression celebrates the rugged heritage of the region. Distilled in the iconic lantern-shaped copper pot stills that define the distillery's elegant, fruity style, this single malt was matured for 16 years in a single hand-selected American oak cask (Cask No. 70154) before being bottled in 2016. Because it is an unblended single cask bottling, it offers a pure snapshot of a specific moment in the distillery's maturation history, delivering rich notes of ripe orchard fruits, soft vanilla, sweet honey, and gentle oak spices.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1824 by George Smith in the remote Livet Valley of Speyside, Scotland, The Glenlivet holds historic distinction as the first legally licensed distillery in the parish following the 1823 Excise Act. Today part of Chivas Brothers under Pernod Ricard, the distillery draws mineral-rich water from Josie's Well and employs tall, lantern-shaped copper pot stills to achieve a remarkably light and refined distillation. The Glenlivet is celebrated for setting the benchmark of classic Speyside single malt whisky, defined by a smooth, fruit-forward profile laden with orchard apples, delicate floral tones, and subtle oak, as showcased in acclaimed expressions ranging from its iconic 12 Year Old to rare editions in the Winchester and Cellar Collections.
