This expression is finished in individually selected first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, which layer rich, dark chocolate and dried fruit notes over the distillery's signature bright, floral, and orchard-fruit character. The heritage of The Glenlivet is steeped in Scottish folklore; founder George Smith famously carried hair-trigger pistols to defend his legally licensed distillery from angry illicit distillers in the remote Glenlivet valley. The XXV is a tribute to this enduring spirit of defiance and excellence, offering an incredibly complex, velvety texture and a long, warming finish.

The Glenlivet blev grundlagt i 1824 af George Smith i den afsidesliggende Livet Valley i skotske Speyside, og destilleriet har en historisk særstatus som det allerførste i sognet, der opnåede officiel licens efter Excise Act i 1823.
