Glenmorangie Ealanta, Scots Gaelic for 'skilled and ingenious', is the highly acclaimed fourth annual release in the distillery's prestigious Private Edition series. Bottled in 2012 after 19 years of maturation, this extraordinary single malt departed from traditional Scotch aging practices by resting entirely in virgin American white oak casks sourced from the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri. Glenmorangie's pioneering whisky creators sought to explore the pure, unadulterated influence of unused wood on their signature delicate spirit, which is distilled in Scotland's tallest stills. The result is a legendary dram that was named World Whisky of the Year in Jim Murray's 2014 Whisky Bible, celebrated for its intense butterscotch, vanilla, and candied orange peel notes, underpinned by a gentle, spicy oak complexity.
