The Cuvee Unique Blanc is a testament to the iconoclastic genius of Jean-Marie Guffens, a winemaker who has spent decades challenging the rigid hierarchies of Burgundy. Often crafted as a special selection of exceptional barrels or custom blends from his prized holdings in the Maconnais, this wine bypasses conventional constraints to focus purely on quality and raw expression of terroir. Sourced from the limestone-rich soils surrounding the majestic Roche de Vergisson, the wine benefits from Guffens's signature minimalist yet precise intervention: extremely low yields, fermentation with indigenous yeasts in oak barrels, and extended aging on the fine lees without stirring (battonage). This approach preserves a striking, chiseled minerality and vibrant acidity, balanced by a rich, multi-layered texture. The history of Guffens-Heynen is one of rebellion and triumph, proving that the hills of the southern Burgundy can yield white wines of a stature and complexity that rival the legendary crus of the Cote de Beaune.

Domaine Guffens-Heynen blev grundlagt i 1979 af det belgiske ægtepar Jean-Marie Guffens og Lydie Heynen og har hjemme i den maleriske landsby Vergisson i Mâconnais i Bourgogne. Jean-Marie Guffens er bredt anerkendt som en revolutionerende visionær, der forvandlede det sydlige Bourgognes omdømme gennem et kompromisløst markarbejde, streng manuel selektering i flere omgange ('tries') under høsten og et præcist, minimalistisk arbejde i vinkælderen. Vingården er verdenskendt for at skabe ekstraordinært koncentrerede, mineralske og lagringsværdige hvide bourgogner fra ikoniske lieu-dits som En Chavigne og La Roche i Pouilly-Fuissé samt Mâcon-Pierreclos – vine, der jævnligt måler sig med de ypperste Grand Crus fra Côte de Beaune.
