Hailing from the steep, south-facing slopes of Vergisson, the 'Les Carettes' climat is one of Pouilly-Fuissé's most esteemed vineyards, recently elevated to Premier Cru status. Domaine Guffens-Heynen coaxes an extraordinary expression of Chardonnay from this terroir, where the vines dig deep into limestone-rich clay soils. Jean-Marie Guffens's approach here is legendary: meticulous hand-harvesting in multiple passes to capture perfect ripeness, followed by natural yeast fermentation and aging in oak barrels. The resulting wine is a masterpiece of dramatic tension, seamlessly marrying opulent stone fruit, citrus confit, and toasted brioche notes with a piercing, saline minerality that reflects the dramatic limestone cliffs of the region.

Established in 1979 by Belgian native Jean-Marie Guffens and his wife Lydie Heynen, Domaine Guffens-Heynen is located in the picturesque village of Vergisson in Burgundy's Mâconnais region. Widely regarded as a revolutionary visionary, Guffens transformed the reputation of southern Burgundy through uncompromising vineyard husbandry, rigorous manual selections involving multiple passes ('tries') during harvest, and precise, non-interventionist cellar practices. The domaine is world-renowned for crafting extraordinarily concentrated, mineral-rich, and age-worthy white Burgundies from iconic lieu-dits such as En Chavigne and La Roche in Pouilly-Fuissé and Mâcon-Pierreclos, regularly rivaling the finest Grand Crus of the Côte de Beaune.
