The Niersteiner Hipping Riesling GG by Gunderloch is a masterclass in the expression of the legendary Roter Hang (Red Slope) in Rheinhessen. The Hipping vineyard is renowned for its steep, sun-drenched slopes composed of iron-rich, red clay-slate soil, which dates back over 250 million years. This unique terroir imparts a distinct smoky minerality, vibrant stone fruit notes, and a refined, exotic spicy character to the wine. Crafted from 100% Riesling, the grapes are hand-harvested and undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. Johannes Hasselbach employs gentle pressing and extended lees contact in traditional oak casks and stainless steel to build texture while preserving the wine's electric acidity. Historically, the wines of the Roter Hang were among the most expensive in the world, favored by European royalty, and this Grosses Gewächs (GG) continues that legacy of world-class quality.
