The Hennessy VSOP Chinese New Year Limited Edition 2021 is a vibrant celebration of both heritage and contemporary artistry, marking the Year of the Ox. For this special release, Hennessy collaborated with the acclaimed Beijing-based artist Liu Wei, whose dynamic and colorful abstract artwork adorns the bottle, symbolizing hope, togetherness, and spring's rebirth. At its core, the liquid is the classic Hennessy VSOP Privilège, a masterfully balanced blend first created in 1817 at the request of the future King George IV of Great Britain. Crafted from a selection of up to 60 different eaux-de-vie derived primarily from Ugni Blanc grapes, it is aged in French oak casks to achieve a harmonious profile. This expression showcases the traditional double-distillation in copper Charentais alembic stills, resulting in a spirit defined by aromas of fresh fruit, vanilla, clove, and toasted wood, underpinned by a legendary blending lineage spanning eight generations.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1765 by Irish officer Richard Hennessy in the historic town of Cognac, France, Hennessy has grown to become the world's most celebrated Cognac house. Headquartered on the banks of the Charente River along Rue de la Richonne, the house is renowned for its centuries-old blending heritage, famously guided by eight generations of master blenders from the Fillioux family. Utilizing traditional double-distillation in copper Charentais alembic stills, Hennessy ages its precious eaux-de-vie in French oak casks sourced from the Limousin forest to develop unparalleled complexity and depth. The estate's legendary portfolio is defined by iconic expressions such as the VSOP Privilège, the pioneering XO Cognac—a category first created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870—and the exquisite, ultra-premium Hennessy Paradis.
