The Hennessy XO Chinese New Year Limited Edition 2021 celebrates the Year of the Ox through a vibrant artistic collaboration with contemporary artist Liu Wei, whose colorful, abstract artwork adorns the iconic decanter. Originally created in 1870 by Maurice Hennessy for his inner circle of family and friends, the 'Extra Old' designation established a new style of Cognac. This majestic blend comprises over one hundred eaux-de-vie, primarily distilled from Ugni Blanc grapes harvested across Cognac's premier crus, including Grande and Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fins Bois. Aged for up to thirty years in seasoned French Limousin oak casks, the spirit develops a deeply complex profile. It offers a sensory journey marked by sweet notes of candied fruit, warming black pepper, wild cocoa, and a structured, woody resonance that represents the pinnacle of the Fillioux family's blending legacy.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1765 by Irish officer Richard Hennessy in the historic town of Cognac, France, Hennessy has grown to become the world's most celebrated Cognac house. Headquartered on the banks of the Charente River along Rue de la Richonne, the house is renowned for its centuries-old blending heritage, famously guided by eight generations of master blenders from the Fillioux family. Utilizing traditional double-distillation in copper Charentais alembic stills, Hennessy ages its precious eaux-de-vie in French oak casks sourced from the Limousin forest to develop unparalleled complexity and depth. The estate's legendary portfolio is defined by iconic expressions such as the VSOP Privilège, the pioneering XO Cognac—a category first created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870—and the exquisite, ultra-premium Hennessy Paradis.
