Hennessy Fine Champagne VSOP is a masterfully crafted Cognac that pays homage to the two premier crus of the Cognac region: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. By law, a 'Fine Champagne' blend must contain at least 50% Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, with the remainder coming from Petite Champagne. These chalky, limestone-rich soils yield grapes—primarily Ugni Blanc—that produce wines of high acidity and low alcohol, ideal for double-distillation in traditional copper Charentais stills. The resulting eaux-de-vie are aged in French Limousin oak casks, where they develop a harmonious balance of lively floral notes, rich spice, and structured tannins. This expression captures the historical elegance of the VSOP category, which was originally created by Hennessy in 1817 at the request of the future King George IV of Great Britain, offering a refined, velvety texture and a lingering finish of toasted brioche and vanilla.
