Hennessy's Le Peu Single Distillery Cognac represents a fascinating departure from the house's traditional mastery of multi-distillery blending. By focusing entirely on the output of a single, historic distillery—Le Peu, which has supplied eaux-de-vie to Hennessy for generations—this expression highlights a singular, focused terroir and distillation character. Crafted primarily from Ugni Blanc grapes grown in the chalky soils of the Cognac region, the eaux-de-vie are double-distilled in traditional copper Charentais alembic stills. The distillation process at Le Peu is renowned for its precision, capturing exceptionally bright, floral, and fruit-forward notes. Aged in seasoned French oak casks, this Cognac develops a delicate complexity, balancing fresh pear, honey, and subtle wood spices, offering a rare, transparent look at one of the foundational building blocks of the Hennessy style.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1765 by Irish officer Richard Hennessy in the historic town of Cognac, France, Hennessy has grown to become the world's most celebrated Cognac house. Headquartered on the banks of the Charente River along Rue de la Richonne, the house is renowned for its centuries-old blending heritage, famously guided by eight generations of master blenders from the Fillioux family. Utilizing traditional double-distillation in copper Charentais alembic stills, Hennessy ages its precious eaux-de-vie in French oak casks sourced from the Limousin forest to develop unparalleled complexity and depth. The estate's legendary portfolio is defined by iconic expressions such as the VSOP Privilège, the pioneering XO Cognac—a category first created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870—and the exquisite, ultra-premium Hennessy Paradis.
