The Winninger Kirchberg is a legendary steep-sloped vineyard in the Terrassenmosel, where vines cling to dramatic, towering terraces of dark Devonian slate and quartzite. The name 'Kirchberg' historically points to the church hill, a site blessed with optimal solar exposure and a microclimate tempered by the nearby Mosel River. Heymann-Löwenstein's expression of this Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) site is a masterclass in terroir-driven winemaking. Spontaneously fermented with native yeasts and aged in traditional large oak Fuder casks with extended lees contact, this dry Riesling captures the raw, crystalline minerality of the slate.
