Perched on the dizzyingly steep, terraced cliffs of the Terrassenmosel, the Uhlen vineyard is a dramatic amphitheater where slate and stone meet the sky. Within this legendary site lies the 'Roth Lay' parcel, famous for its unique, iron-rich red slate soils. The 'R' designation signifies a special reserve bottling, representing an ultra-selective harvest that undergoes extended aging on its natural lees in traditional large oak Fuder casks. Heymann-Löwenstein's philosophy of minimal intervention and spontaneous wild yeast fermentation allows this terroir to express itself fully. The resulting wine is a powerful, dry Riesling of immense structural complexity, marked by a distinct smoky minerality, wild herbal notes, and a rich, textured palate that defies the typical light-bodied Mosel stereotype.

Established in 1980 by Reinhard Löwenstein and Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein in the historic village of Winningen, the Heymann-Löwenstein estate is a pioneering force in Germany's Terrassenmosel region.
