Crafted only in exceptional vintages when weather conditions allow for the perfect development of botrytis cinerea, this rare Beerenauslese showcases the intense mineral signature of the Terrassenmosel's steep, blue Devonian slate soils. The 'von blauem Schiefer' designation reflects the unique terroir of Winningen's sheer terraced cliffs, where the dark blue slate absorbs the daytime sun and radiates heat back to the vines overnight, imparting a distinctively cool, flinty, and crystalline minerality to the grapes. To produce this liquid gold, individual botrytised berries are painstakingly selected by hand during multiple passes through the vineyards. In the cellar, the estate's low-intervention philosophy allows for a slow, spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts. The resulting wine is a masterclass in tension, balancing luscious, honeyed concentration with the electric, vibrant acidity characteristic of the Mosel's finest Rieslings.
